Tim Kemp (in memoriam)
On April 27th, well-wishers gathered on court four at The Club at White Oaks to honour the memory of Tim Kemp. Tim had been a teaching professional at White Oaks for 35 years, and passed away without warning on his way home from work on April 8th. He was only 60 years of age. Club members and young students spoke about the impact he had on them, and especially how his good humour helped instill in them a love of tennis.
Tim was “a Niagara Falls boy”, a graduate of A.N.Myer Secondary School and an integral part of the Niagara tennis scene throughout his life. He leaves a wife and two daughters, as well as hundreds of friends and admirers.
Allison D’Amario spoke on behalf of the club :
Thank you joining us at this court dedication ceremony honouring Tim Kemp’s legacy. His 35 years of dedication to the team undoubtedly left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Tim’s versatility and dedication as a coach, from nurturing the youngest players to refining the skills of the most advanced, truly exemplifies his passion for the sport and commitment to helping others reach their full potential.
Tim’s humor and endearing absent-mindedness surely made the club a warmer and more vibrant place. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the fond memories shared by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
