BJK Cup Champions Tour

The Billie Jean King Cup Champions Tour is coming to SouthWest Region! The announcement came on Friday May 24th, from Toni Ormond (Tennis Canada Program Manager, Women and Girls) and Peter Malcomson (OTA Marketing Manager).

The Tour kicked off in Vancouver on May 8th and has been making its way across the country. Our very special event will take place at Rosedale Tennis Club in Hamilton on Saturday July 20th. It will be an opportunity for everyone in the Region to visit this historic club and share in our tribute to the extraordinary Team Canada players who captured the trophy in November 2023.

The Rosedale TC is delighted to be playing host to the BJK Cup, even though it will make for busy days in the next few weeks. The newly-rebuilt hard courts should be ready for coating in early June, after which the bubble can be installed and inflated. The club has been a construction site since before Christmas, but is looking terrific already.

The day’s schedule for July 20th will be announced in due course, but a central feature will be a Team Play-Day for 48 girls, 10-14 years of age, on Rosedale’s 12 courts. Save the date!

Within 24 hours of the announcement, Kerry Dwyer-Mitchell (Chair of the Rosedale Host Committee) met with SWR Chair Rosemary Goodwin to begin mapping out the preliminary outline and to-do lists.
