2025 NBO : “Redefined”
1. Starting next year, in Toronto and Montreal, the National Bank Open will expand from a 7-day to 12-day format.
2. The singles main draw player field will also expand from the previous 56 to 96 and a total of seven sessions will be added, including an extra round of matches. In doubles, we’ll also move from a draw of 28 teams to 32. These changes mean more tennis stars playing more matches, over more days, with more opportunities for fans to get close to their heroes in action.
3. A one-day, 32-player qualifying format will be introduced, taking place on Saturday, July 26 with main draw action getting underway on Sunday, July 27 in both cities.
4. The women’s and men’s finals will take place on Thursday, August 7 with our champions set to be crowned under the lights during night sessions at Sobeys Stadium and Stade IGA. We are looking forward to hosting a final at night during “primetime” hours for the first time and we believe that this will elevate the experience for both fans onsite and those watching from home.
5. Quarter-finals will be spread over two days (Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5) and will be played exclusively during night sessions. Meanwhile, our two semi-finals will be during a single night session on Wednesday, August 6.
6. The bigger and better player field will receive a rest day in between matches, up until the semi-finals, to ensure optimized player health, recovery time and top performance levels. It will also allow the tournament to promote the schedule in advance. This, in turn, will benefit the fans as they are always eager to know when their favourite players are going to be on court. It’s also incredibly useful with broadcasting because our rights holders can plan their promotion accordingly.
The Tennis Canada team will be available to answer all your questions and to renew your seats. Feel free to contact your account representative directly or email ho*********@**********da.com.

The Redefined 2025 NBO will require even more volunteers to run the show. This year, Li Rao (Aldershot TC and Tyandaga TC) was happy to help Tejay Monga (Aldershot TC) and Ron Mauro (Grimsby TC) find seats for the doubles quarter-final on the grandstand court. Ron had won his Saturday evening tickets as part of the SWR annual meeting in January.
