Milton TC Time Capsule

The Milton Tennis Club celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023 with a spectacular array of events and productions. Continuing on the theme, opening day in 2024 featured the placing of a time capsule to be opened in 25 years. Thanks to Jeff Truswell for this narrative of the ceremony. 

Time capsules are meant to preserve goods and information, a deliberate method of communication with people in the future. 

We want others to know the greatness of the Milton Tennis Club. We want others to see the progression of tennis in the Milton community over the centuries. We want others to know the activities, events, tournaments, players and amazing people who have graced the courts at the Milton Tennis Club. 

Included in the time capsule : an MTC hat, a 1980 newspaper article, letters from our first Junior National Tournament chairperson and Provincial Sports Minister, MTC letterhead from the 1990’s, several physical photos from previous decades, our 100 year video and speech, links to newspaper articles and photos, two MTC t-shirts, a 1980s-style headband, and a 1990 MTC membership booklet. 

We hope the club members of 2048 will “dig up” the time capsule to revisit our rich history, then contribute to it and bury it again for future generations.
