Tennis Makes the Headlines
People throughout our communities enjoy seeing young players in action, and that gets the attention of the local media. There’s nothing like a small town newspaper for spreading the good news about tennis. On the holiday May weekend, the Niagara-on-the-Lake TC hosted an U12 Transition Tour, with this excellent coverage in The Lake Report.
OTA junior tournaments are a significant part of the overall operations of the office and staff. Here in SouthWest Region, a total of 51 events will be hosted by 8 clubs from April through to early September – everything from rookie events for under-9 first-timers, to provincial championships. All the technical detail, from registration through to the draws, is coordinated through the office, with onsite operations handled by the host club
All our clubs are encouraged to get involved. It helps our players (and their families) when they don’t have to contend with Toronto traffic, and families from other areas enjoy an outing to this part of the province. It’s inspiring for the kids in local junior programs to see the high quality of play. And it’s inspiring for the rest of us as well. The kids are the future of our sport, and it’s uplifting to see their energy and their love of tennis competition.
