2025 ICTA Wrap up

Congratulations to the team from Bronte Tennis Club in Oakville, winners of the ICTA Ladies League, Majors Division. After winning the West section of the regular season and an additional playoff round, the team advanced to the final round at Sobeys tennis centre on September 20th … a gala day of great tennis and abundant celebration.

The ICTA (Inter-County Tennis Association) runs the largest tennis league in Canada, with teams from 100 clubs in the GTA and beyond. It’s easy to get involved, and this is the time of year for players to consider getting a team together for next season. The season runs for 12-14 weeks over the summer, with home and away games against teams within each section.

The Ladies League plays on Wednesday mornings and has three divisions. Bronte TC played in the Majors, as did a team from Wallace Park TC. In Division A, there were three SWR teams : Appleby TC (who finished at the top of the West standings), Bronte TC and Wallace Park TC. In Division B, the team from Nassagaweya/Milton TC finished in first place for the West, while both Bronte TC and Halton Hills TC played as well.

Appleby TC : Division A West winners

Nassagaweya/Milton TC : Division B West winners

The 55+ League plays on Thursday mornings. SWR had two teams in Division A : Bronte TC and Wallace Park TC; and four teams in Division B : Nassagaweya/Milton TC, Wallace Park TC and two teams from Burlington TC.

The Mixed League plays on weekday evenings. Milton TC had teams in all four divisions (Majors, A, B, C), while Halton Hills TC had a team in the B division.

Congratulations to all the players, to the captains who make it all possible, and to the clubs which support them with court time allocation. From the lists above, it’s apparent that teams are more likely to emerge from our larger clubs, but it’s also possible to build a “composite team” from two clubs …. a good option to consider, especially when court time is scarce. The ICTA accommodates travel time by grouping teams in geographic areas, so all of SouthWest Region is welcome to participate.
