Wimbledon Socials
One of the favourite themes for club social directors is the Wimbledon Social. It handles three issues wonderfully well : instant recognition (minimal explanation needed) …. invitation to wear a costume (provided you don’t dress in white for tennis every day) … and the much-loved strawberries & cream for the menu. Combined, those factors bring about smiling faces and create great photo opportunities.
The Aldershot Tennis Club opted to invite OTA’s NBO Roadshow to their party on July 12th, and Simon Burden was a hit with the smash cage. Carol Victor did the photography honours, compiling the photos into a beautiful bulletin board montage afterwards.
The strawberries and cream were supplemented with cucumber sandwiches and lemonade, and a Wimbledon trivia game was added to the mix … with prizes, of course.

The Ancaster Tennis Club had the party-with-all-the-trimmings as well, sharing how cool the
courts look when the players are in whites. Jerome Marrin does a great job with the photography, capturing magic moments and recording the club’s summer season on its social media accounts.

The Dundas Tennis Club always has a great turnout to club events, and the Wimbledon social was no exception.

At the Grimsby Tennis Club festivities centred around the ladies. Ron Mauro reports it was held on Sunday July 13th.

Since all these parties are in celebration of the wonderful players who entertain and amaze us with their beautiful tennis on the grass courts of the All-England Club, it seems fitting to share a side of the event we don’t usually see.

Thank you, Wimbledon! We can hardly wait to see you again next year.
